Resume of the current season
As we near the end of our second ‘Summer Season’ here in Tomatin Rob & I thought that we would write to you to tell you how things are going here at Glenan Lodge and also to bring you up to date with some of our plans for the future. June was a busy month and we were delighted to see so many of you who stayed with us last year - we have come to the conclusion that we must be doing something right although for much of last summer we felt that we were ‘flying by wire’ - it was a steep learning curve.

The atrocious weather in July meant that was a pretty quiet month on the tourist side but August more than made up for it as we were full pretty well all month – the new sign we put up at the entrance to the village paid for itself, and the others we have planned for the A9, in the first two days.

The bad weather also severely affected the Grouse Shooting season as many young birds didn’t survive the cold wind and rain which we experienced at the end of July – some of you will remember sitting watching videos for hours because the weather was too awful to venture out!! Fortunately that doesn’t happen very often.

One good thing about the wetter summer is that there has been more water in the river for the fishermen – in fact the problem this year has been too much water not too little. This month we have a number of guests who are trying to catch that elusive salmon before the season ends on 30th September but there are still a few spaces left for anyone who can get away at a moment’s notice.

Christmas & Hogmanay 2004

As for the future – last year’s Christmas House Party was such a success that we have decided to repeat it this year. Full details are posted on the website – Click here to go there – however; if you would like a brochure please request one by e-mail. Numbers are strictly limited so, first come first served – one couple booked for this year before they left last year!!!! If Christmas fills up there is always Hogmanay.

Winter Breaks

This year we are also offering special Winter Breaks of 3 nights accommodation for the price of 2 so why not get away from the stresses of normal life for a relaxing time in the Highlands. Settle down by our log fire with a book or a video or, if relaxation isn’t your idea of fun, try skiing or snow boarding at Cairngorm, a dog sled ride or a visit to the Reindeer herd all easily accessible from Aviemore which is only 15 miles away.

We’ll let you know what we plan for Easter early in the New Year but, in the meantime, any bookings for next year which are confirmed before 31st December 2004 will qualify for a discount of 5% off the price of the accommodation.*
