| Glenan Lodge guesthouse accommodation
enjoys the benefit of a 2 mile beat on the river Findhorn which is
described by a guest who has fished in the area for more than 15 years
as being "the best." The beat supports a maximum of 3 rods
at any time.
The beat has 4 well established pools and a couple
of good runs and over the years has seen some very nice fish caught
including one od 22lbs and another of 18lbs. A local ghillie hooked
a salmon early in the 2004 season which he reckoned to be between
25 and 30lbs. Unfortunately he was using 15lb line and the line
broke before the fish could be landed!
Fishing is strictly by fly only and a voluntary catch and release
policy is encouraged. All hen fish must be returned to the river.

The season on the Findhorn starts on 11th
February and goes through to the 30th September.
The run of spring fish starts as soon as the water warms up after
the winter.
Mid June to July sees the Grilse run and late August onwards the
main Salmon run.
As with all spate rivers you take your chance with water levels
although historically September has seen a number of fish caught
even when water levels have been low.
